We don’t need an excuse to get festive!

We’ve had many a pumping night of quality live music by female fronted acts and December is no different. Blues/roots fave poster girl “Genevieve Chadwick” will be joined by the divine “Maxine Kauter Band” and acoustic aviator “Pilot Darcy” for the last YMP for 2011.

As many of you already know, it has been a big year for Genevieve Chadwick blitzing many a festival show including Sydney Blues Festival, Bendigo Blues Festival and Woodford Folk Festival just around the corner. We’re always stoked when Gen is in town in time for a YES MA’AM PRESENTS and she’s ready to heat up the vibe for the December edition.

Another act I have been dying to get on the bill is the exquisite Maxine Kauter Band. These guys won me over at first sight at my local, Beach Road Hotel, years ago. They have since stunned my musical pants offa me at the Chick Boom Band Comp and other gigs around town that I’ve managed to catch. Being a huge lover of Neko Case, dexterous double bass and driving rhythms, MKB have all the finest ingredients in my mind making them one of Sydney’s top alternative acts.

Last but not least, acoustic soloist, Pilot Darcy will share some of her gorgeous songs, sung complete with heavenly vocals and interspersed with delicate rhythms to soothe even the most weary Christmas shopper. Her obscure commentaries in amidst her melodies will no doubt leave you laughing and feeling a little grateful for your extra luck in the sanity department!

And of course, it’s my birthday drinks. Yes Ma’am, it’s true, so another excuse to come on down, take advantage of the “no door charge policy” and eat, drink and be merry as the festive season approaches!

Thursday 15th December

Broadway Lounge: 166 – 170 Broadway (Just down from the Landsdowne), Chippendale, Sydney

TWO GIRLS WILL LAUNCH THEIR CD “The Tease” + Genevieve Chadwick is back in town for November’s YES MA’AM PRESENTS!

TWO GIRLS WILL are launching their debut album and we’re all excited. On top of that Genevieve Chadwick is in town for this one. I have two of the top emerging blues/roots ladeez, Genevieve Chadwick and Colleen Fricker (+Will) on stage again.

Come see why both these acts were much talked about at the recent Sydney Blues Festival. Two Girls Will had an early set yet packed the place and Gen was invited by three of the headlining acts (Ash Grunwald, Kim Churchill & Baby Animals) to join them on stage after her dynamic set with her new drummer Angus Donnelly.

And best news of all, this gig is FREE so you can buy your signed copy of the Two Girls Will CD and eat, drink and be merry!!!

THURSDAY 17th NOV, 7PM @ The Broadway Lounge, 166 Broadway, Chippendale (Sydney).

Lose the scarf, smell the jasmine and feel the spring in your step at YES MA’AM PRESENTS in September..

Cos we have the biggest line-up yet with FOUR female acoustic acts on stage to entertain!

First we have the gorgeous Haylz Thorncracft from Chicks With Picks fame and ex “Bo Banta”. Everyone around town, including studio engineers, love this lady and her exquisite voice! One of the few singers in Sydney to successfully pull off a Beyonce cover!

Then there is crazy Pilot Darcy who sings of love and light and is known for her ramblings into x-rated and z-rated territory. Romantic one moment and down right blatantly blunt the next, her rhythmic yet minimal guitar laced with delicate vocal melodies will keep you smiling inside and out.

Followed by another delightful diva: Lauren Victoria! Lauren released her first commercial single “Rock A Lot” under the alias of The LadyKillers with renowned aussie DJ Archie a couple of years ago. The track was included in the popular “WILD WEEKEND 09” dance compilation CD. This lady can sing people!

And last on the bill, but certainly not the least, local lass Sally Hackett. Sally is what you get when you put Frank Zappa, Neil Young and Joe Pass in a blender with some ice. She’s a bit watered down but retains traces of the aforementioned flavours and is very refreshing. Expect to be left standing yet possibly amused by her rhyming of words like “receptacle” and molestable” and be prepared to sing along. Certainly one of the best female guitarists in Sydney and ready to complete a talented line-up with ease!

FREE ENTRY means you can eat, drink and be extra merry!

Thursday 15th Septmber @ The Broadway Lounge, 166 Broadway, Chippendale.

Yes Ma’am Presents keeping you warm in Winter…

Once a month Yes Ma’am Presents keeps you warmer than ever with a hot line-up of female acoustic talent!

For Thursday the 18th August blues/roots sensation Genevieve Chadwick will be supported by the uber-talented diva Hayley Legg who is listed in Wikipedia: “With over 7 million views, Hayley Legg is currently the 11th most subscribed Australian musician of all time on YouTube!” This is also Hayley’s last Sydney show before heading OS again… so we’re lucky to have her on the bill!

And exciting new face to our cosy scene is acoustic folk/blues artist Francesca Sidoti from the Blue Mountains: “Sidoti has such a presence on stage that can’t be seen or heard on her recording. Live, she sings so humbly and everything she does is raw.” – Faster Louder, March 2011.

It’s the usual deal, free entry, which means you can kick back, have a cheap dinner and drinks and be entertained by this stunning line-up! First show starts at 7pm. See you there: Broadway Lounge, 166 – 170 Broadway Sydney.

Proudly supported by Chicks With Picks.

Storm the Broadway Lounge 14th July!

This month “YES MA’AM Presents” is going to be rockin’ and rootsy with three of the most powerful ladeez on stage armed with guitars and gutsy vocals to match!

Yes Ma'am Presents July

Yes Ma’am is stoked to have Sth Coast NSW blues/roots leading lady “Genevieve Chadwick” headlining with very talented supports “Aimee Francis” (USA/Melb… now new to Sydney) and Windsor’s hidden treasure “Colleen Fricker” heating up the night!

Best of all it’s free entry which means you can eat and drink to your heart’s content!

And a big thanks to Chicks With Picks for being our proud new sponsor. I figured since we were stealing a lot of the talent from CWP events, it made sense!

See you all 7pm on the 14th July… the date the French stormed the Bastille and the Sydney-siders flocked to the Broadway Lounge! (166 Broadway, Chippendale, just down from the Landsdowne).

Opera House here we come!

Exciting news for both Genevieve Chadwick and Bo Banta with the recent news that they will be performing at the Sydney Opera House!

20 years ago an amazing group of women organised a Lesbian Concert at the Sydney Opera House. I was a wee young thing but still remember dressing in my finest and having the best time.

It was no mean feat to accomplish back then, nor now! But Georgina from, “Creative Womyn”, has managed to host another cultural concert  on Sunday 1oth July, 2011.

With a return of Australia’s biggest lesbian acts including icons Judy Small, Bluehouse, Julie McCrossin, Kerrianne Cox + lots more and a small selection of younger acts on the rise; Gen, Bo Banta, Gabby Dever and Hannah Matysek to entertain us all at the “Lesbians In The House Concert”.

More information and tickets to this historic event here.
