40 bands + 40hrs = 40 Hour Famine Benefits!

On the weekend of 16-18 November 2012, forty bands will play for forty hours non-stop to break an Australian record for the longest running music festival, and raise money for World Vision Australia’s projects.

Yes Ma’am is proud to sponsor the first ever 40 Hour Music Marathon hosted by King Street Brewehouse in Darling Harbour.

Alfredo Malabello, the organiser, is a man of his word who proposed the unique idea earlier this year and has certainly put the energy and time in to make it a reality. “We hope to have 1,500 people attend the 40 Hour Music Marathon at the Brewhouse, but we also realise this event would appeal to so many music fans around the country and the world,” Alfredo said. “To ensure no one misses out, we will be streaming the event live from our website where people can tune in, chat about the bands playing, and be part of making Australian music history.”

Lucky for us, we’re in Sydney and  can catch the awesome line-up, including our local faves Two Girls Will, C*U*N*T, The Mis-Made and, rumour has it, Maxine Kauter Band!

To promote the event I have 5 double passes at $40 – that means half price or buy one get one free. All you have to do is be one of the first 5 people to email me: sin.yesmaam@gmail.com

It’s nice to give back when you can, it feels good and we make the world a better place for those that need a helping hand. And besides, you can access  40hours of music or pop in and pop back as often as you like. But I’m guessing you might just want to see every amazing act!

Yep… it’s time for Yes Ma’am Presents.

Yes Ma'am Presents - April 2012Most of you know the drill by now. I grab the Yes Ma’am Poster Girl “Genevieve Chadwick” (unless she’s on tour), book another couple of awesome female-fronted acts and voila, the Broadway Lounge is packed with friendly punters consumed in the magic of music!

Genevieve ChadwickThis month will be no different with Genevieve headlining the bill with a passionate and powerful solo performance. She lived up to her reputation for captivating audiences with her punchy stage presence at the recent Blue Mountains Music Festival. So much so, she had a sizeable queue trying to squeeze into her second show. I vacated the room to avoid feeling guilty about taking up a space that could otherwise be filled by a craving newbie Chadwick fan. I’m sure they were appreciative.

All of you roots/rock fans will be especially pleased to hear that Two Girls Will are planning to deliver a gutsy set. I’ve seen this young talented act a number of times and they just seem to get better and better. Acoomplished muso’s, they’ll mix it up with their instrument swaps and get you shaking that booty.

Two Girls WillAnd as mentioned previously on my blog, I love to introduce you to a new act whenever possible. Allow me to introduce you to a woman of great soul and strength: Chrystal. A spiritual quester,  she is true to her name and her soul and spirit channel her amazing music. Chrystal has an astounding vocal range and control, and a jazz timbre which could melt Himalayan peaks, lyrics that touch you in the deepest places, and a talent for groove which gives her music feet and wings. She is a great arranger and composer of multi-layered harmonies, strings, guitars, bass and drums with a warm yet assertive edge for leading a band. She also comes highly recommended by a music pal who is more discerning than most! Chrystal will get the vibe going with the a solo set to start the event.

It’s always nice to let you know that it’s free entry and that you have more pocket money to spend on CD’s, food and drinks.

7pm Wed 19th April, The Broadway Lounge, 166 Broadway, Chippendale
